Sonia Bompastor has made three changes to the Chelsea Women starting lineup for today's Women's Super League match against Birmingham City at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, who have scored 8 goals in their last three matches, are third in the table with 7 points from a possible 9. They are looking to build on their recent form which includes a 5-0 win over Manchester United. Veerle Buurman starts in defence, replacing Katie McCabe, while Sandy Baltimore comes in for Lauren James. Academy graduate Lexi Potter retains her place after a strong performance in that win.
Nathalie Bjorn, Naomi Girma and Melvine Malard have returned to fitness and are named among the substitutes. The full starting XI is Hannah Hampton in goal, Ellie Carpenter, Buurman, Kadeisha Buchanan and Lucy Bronze as captain across the back. Sjoeke Nusken, Potter and Wieke Kaptein are in midfield, with Keira Walsh, Baltimore and Aggie Beever-Jones up front.
The bench includes Zecira Musovic, Jess Carter, McCabe, Jelena Cankovic, Bjorn, Girma, Malard, Maika Hamano and Jorja Fox. Chelsea's last meeting with Birmingham City was a 2-0 win just days ago, with goals from Potter and Malard.
Birmingham City, managed by Amy Merricks, visit a ground where Chelsea have been strong. The Blues' next challenge is a home fixture against Arsenal on September 27. Check the latest league positions on our standings section.
