Chelsea Women have secured a significant investment from NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has joined the ownership group of the Women's Super League champions. Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks forward, announced the news on social media, expressing his pride and honor in partnering with Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and husband of tennis legend Serena Williams. Ohanian had previously acquired a 10 percent stake in Chelsea Women from BlueCo in May 2025. Antetokounmpo's investment is expected to contribute to the continued growth and impact of the club in women's sport. The Greek basketball player had previously been a fan of Arsenal, but has since lost his love for the Gunners, admitting to supporting Real Madrid instead. USWNT star Catarina Macario could leave the club in the near future after rejecting the offer of a new deal. Antetokounmpo's investment in Chelsea Women is his latest venture, having previously become a minority owner of Major League Soccer team Nashville SC alongside his brothers Alex, Kostas, and Thanasis. The 31-year-old has also invested in the Major League Baseball franchise Milwaukee Brewers. Chelsea Women will travel to neighbors Tottenham in the WSL on Sunday, with Antetokounmpo potentially watching from afar.
